Switzerland: report 2011

September 2011 :  The community walk organised by the Society of development of Céligny took place on a magnificent autumn day.  The AAG operated a pâtisserie stand to raise funds for the container shipment.

Many thanks to Mélanie, Marina, Sylvette, Corinne, Maria and all the others who donated cakes.  Also thanks go to the Society of development of Céligny for their warm welcome and for providing the stall.

Attention !  There will be a concert in Burtigny on 12th November in aid of the Association.

October 2011 :  The great ‘Sixties Revival’ evening took place at the Caves Bon-Séjour in Versoix in a relaxed and friendly environment.  A large audience gathered to hear many musicians performing music from the 60’s.  The evening lasted for 5 hours and included a performance by the Mayor of Versoix on the guitar.  Thanks to the support of the Versoix council the money raised from this evening has paid for the electricity generator for our new Reception Centre in Mali.

November 2011 :  Another concert took place to raise funds for our Association in the village of Burtigny on the 12 November.

See announcement and press cutting.

This was a first for the farming community of Burtigny, home to our Association.  The wonderful village hall was the setting for an evening of music performed by the Red’Brothers who reprised the unforgettable work of the Shadows.  The stage was set with the addition of a carriage lent for the occasion by the Tuscher family.  The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all and we would like to thank everyone who was involved in the success of the evening – the musicians, the sponsors and the volunteers.

The money raised from this evening has been used to pay the freight costs for our container shipment to Gao.

For the fifth year in a row, the Richelieu International Club has invited us to their theatre evening which raises funds for charitable organisations including the AAG.  Thanks go to them and the actors of the Théâtre de l’Espérance for their wonderful generosity and their enormous talent.

December 2011 :  Our container, which left Chavornay on 18 October, arrived in Gao on 16 December.  This is a huge relief for those working in difficult circumstances in Gao and a welcome reward for all our efforts.

The AAG would like to thank you for your support and wish you all the best for 2012.

Happy Holidays !
