Switzerland: report 2008
January 2008 : Mission accomplished! Our little orange truck has arrived at it's destination, first Koutiala then Gao. The 3 week journey covered 6,350kms and included; 36 hours on a boat; 4 days of forced rest at the customs at Nador; long hours waiting at police stations, insurance offices, transit offices and customs; several scrapes to the bodywork; a theft; being stuck in sand; punctured tyres; running out of fuel .... and all this was conducted with never-ending humour and serenity.
What a team!

March 2008 : The AGM took place on 19 th March at Onex in Geneva in the presence of 16 people, of whom 2 were non-members. The accounts were unanimously approved and all the members of the committee were unanimously re-elected. The evening ended with refreshments and a showing of photographs from the most recent trip to Mali.
April - June 2008 : Our main objectives are to find spare parts for the truck which delivers food from the WFP and to raise funds for the construction of our reception centre. These both take a lot of time and energy and we are having only limited success with them.
We are very concerned about the soaring prices of basic foodstuffs as, for the past few weeks, the money we receive is no longer sufficient to cover the needs of the orphans. We have too few sponsors so are launching an appeal for new sponsors and for greater help from existing members. Our responsibility towards these orphans is huge and we have to find a solution to the threat of famine which faces them.
