Switzerland: report 2015

January - March 2015: On Saturday 21st March, ninety people attended the meal in Chiblins to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the AAG. This was a very successful evening with an excellent atmosphere.  Sophie made the effort to come all the way from Mali to explain her work, talk about the children we help and elaborate on the difficult situation in the country which began with the coup in 2012 and persists to this day.

During the evening, we were entertained by the ‘On-dit-quattro’ Quartet of a cappella singers.  They provided an excellent rendition of both modern and more traditional songs.

The evening closed with the auction of a painting generously donated by our very talented treasurer, Félicie.

Many thanks to all our donors, singers, volunteers, friends and sponsors who all contributed to the great success of this evening.

Sophie brought with her thirty copies of her book entitled ‘Le Fil de Lumière’ which has recently been published in Mali.  Around ten copies remain and can be ordered for the price of CHF 30.00

April – September 2015:  We receive news from Gao regularly throughout the year.  Here in Switzerland, we continue with our activities to ensure we generate enough income to meet our responsibilities towards our orphans.  After ten years in the service of these young lives, which have been so damaged, we remain as committed to our mission as we have ever been.  The results we have achieved make all our efforts worthwhile.

We thank everyone who works in the background to help us to accomplish our goals.

October – December 2015:  This page would never be complete without stressing the importance of our members’ musical performances.  Vreni never misses an opportunity to publicise the work of the AAG while playing the Alp Horn or Barrel Organ at various markets and other locations.

We also salute the performances of the Red’Brothers and the Oldies Goldies at their fifth concert at the Caves de Versoix.
