Switzerland: report 2012

Despite the difficulties caused by the political problems in the north of Mali, we have continued to provide support for our orphan children.

Our local team have faced the numerous challenges with enormous courage.

The enforced visit of Sophie to Switzerland in April allowed us to organise an impromptu meeting and social moment in the village hall in Burtigny.  Full of emotion, this was an opportunity for everyone to meet and talk with Sophie before she flew back to Bamako.

Several events have marked this year.

March 2012 :The AGM took place in Burtigny in the meeting room under the auberge.  As last year, the committee was very small.  Thank you to everyone who attended and worked on behalf of the association. 

August 2012 :Thanks go to Vreni and Peter, as well as the other musicians, for their lovely concert of organ and Alp horn music.  The proceeds of this event will go to Gao.

November 2011 : In the ‘Caves de Versoix’, the Red Brothers and other groups entertained us with  music from the sixties until the small hours of the morning.  Thank you to all these groups for their kind generosity.  The proceeds of the evening will go to buying milk and medicines for the children in Gao.
