Our actions on the ground
In agreement with the Gao authorities, Sophie ensures the care and food of the orphaned children for whom no structure exists. The majority of them are taken in by a member of their family, which does not always have the means of feeding itself.
It is thus up to Sophie to make a census of these children (44 at the end of 2004), to establish a health record for those which have none, to bring their vaccinations up to date, and to ensure their nutritional needs are met , as well as a weekly check-up for each child. Days are long and the timetable is quite heavy.
